Improving Our Health iin 2012 and Beyond - by David Mills (Feb. 18, 2012)
Good health is one of the laws of success - we certainly cannot expect to enjoy life and accomplish much unless we have good health. In the world today, it is sad to see so much sickness and disease. The good news is that our Father wants us to prosper and to be in good health (3 John 2), but we must do our part in obedience to the laws and principles of good health, such as good diet, sufficient rest and sleep, adequate exercise, maintaining proper body weight, a happy state of mind, carefulness to avoid body injury, etc. The Bible points out all of these principles of good health, and there is also a lot of knowledge available from medical science. Why not make it a goal for you and your family to maintain and improve your health in 2012 and beyond?
Wise Financial Management - by David Mills (Feb. 11, 2012)
GETTING HEALTHIER FINANCIALLY IN 2012
Among resolutions made for the new year, many financial advisors recommend a resolution to get healthier financially in 2012. They urge everyone burdened with debt to resolve to pay down their debts, especially credit cards with high interest rates. They also recommend that, once out of debt, dedicate yourself to saving regularly, practice wise money management habits, and avoid falling into debt again.
Faithful tithing: Wise financial management begins with faithful tithing to God (Proverbs:3:9-10[9]Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:[10]So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine., Malachi:3:8-12[8]Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.[9]Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation.[10]Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.[11]And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts.[12]And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the LORD of hosts.). Be sure to read our booklet, "What Does the Bible Teach About Tithing?" You can read it online or request a free printed copy at www.ucg.org/booklets. With obedience in tithing and wise money management, it is possible to become healthier financially in 2012.
"God Does the Calling, Not Us" - by David Mills (Feb. 4, 2012)
"AS MANY AS THE LORD OUR GOD SHALL CALL" In spite of some wintry weather in North America, more than 1,000 guests attended Kingdom of God Bible Seminars in late January, and we still have 34 congregations yet to hold their seminars in February. We anticipate upwards of 1,500 total guests when round two of the seminars are completed. This is very similar to the guests in round one.
Kingdom of God Bible Seminars - by David Mills (Jan. 28, 2012)
ENCOURAGING REPORT ON KINGDOM OF GOD BIBLE SEMINARS
Here in January 198 of our congregations around the world are conducting Kingdom of God Bible Seminars. We are very pleased that in our four congregations last Sabbath we had a total of 22 guests to attend. They heard a message that, if God is drawing them to understand the Kingdom of God, then the time is ripe to take action on the gospel message. All of them listened attentively, and most stayed around for questions, fellowship, and snacks after the seminar.
Our Invitation to God's Kingdom - by David Mills (1-21-2012)
"WELCOME TO THE KINGDOM OF GOD!"
This Sabbath, January 21, the United Church is sponsoring Kingdom of God Bible Seminars in many cities across the United States and around the world. These seminars focus on the central message of the Bible, the same message Jesus came preaching, the gospel of t he Kingdom of God (Mark:1:14-14[14]Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,). This second round of the seminars vividly points out that the "time is fulfilled" and the Kingdom of God is "at hand." For those God is calling, now is the time to take action - now is the time to repent!
Christ Is in Full Control in His Churchj - by David Mills (Jan. 14, 2012)
HANDLING OUR PRESENT SITUATION IN THE CHURCH
How do we handle our unique situation in the Church of God today, with a scattering of members into several organizations? Since these organizations come from the same root, we naturally have much in common. We in the United Church of God (UCG) consider all those who believe and practice New Testament Christianity to be our brothers and sisters in Christ, and we do not judge other Church of God organizations, nor do we claim to be better than others. We realize that, more than ever, our situation in the Church today requires a greater love, wisdom, and sensitivity.
How to Understand Prophecy - by David Mills (Jan. 7, 2012)
ARE YOU WELL-GROUNDED IN BIBLE PROPHECY?
There are many strange and unbiblical beliefs about prophecies for the end of this age. Some believe in a rapture of Christians; others believe the United States is the beast of the book of Revelation; and many believe Christ will take the righteous to heaven at His second coming. Scriptures state that only "the wise shall understand" (Daniel:12:10Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.). The wise are those who obey and keep God's commandments.
Be Watchful in 2012 and Beyond - by David Mills (12-31-2011)
WILL 2012 BE A BETTER YEAR?
Goodbye 2011, hello 2012. Some have commented they're glad 2011 is gone, because it's not been an easy year. But will 2012 be any better? It would be nice to have less destructive storms, less global geo-political upheaval, less economic turmoil, and it is possible that 2012 will offer some reprieve. Yet it is also possible that conditions will deteriorate as we edge closer to great tribulation, a time "such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be" (Matthew:24:21For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.). In 2012 we must continue to watch world events in the light of Bible prophecy.
True Christians Are Different - by David Mills (Dec. 24, 2011)
BEING DIFFERENT WHEN IT'S THE RIGHT THING TO DO
The Christmas holiday is here, as of this Sunday, December 25. True Christians do not observe this holiday, since it has its roots not in the Scriptures but in ancient pagan customs and false religious worship. A Christian must "come out and be separate" and not touch what is unclean (2 Corinthians:6:17Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.). Not keeping Christmas sets us apart as very different from the rest of the world.
Encouraging Words for Troubled Times - by David Mills (Dec. 17, 2011)
In the midst of a storm, there is a great need for encouraging words. On his voyage to Rome with 276 people on board, Paul found himself in a violent storm. Neither the sun nor the stars appeared for many days, and "all hope that we would be saved was finally given up." It was at this point that an angel of God told Paul not to be afraid and that everyone would be saved. Paul was able to deliver this good news to all on board, and he encouraged them to eat food for nourishment. Sure enough, even though there was a total loss of the ship and its cargo, everyone survived, and Paul eventually completed his journey to Rome. You can read the entire story in Acts 27-28.
